Strictly business (and a little play)

For this outfit which I’m really happy to share with you, I donned a multi-coloured floral lace top with shades of blue and turquoise, with indigo jeans and a structured black blazer with ruched shoulders. If you've been following my blog for a while, you may recall the floral lace top from an earlier post, where it was styled to create an edgy, Oriental-inspired look (Orient Express (Part 1) - Summer Solstice). That was one of my all-time favourite looks, so do check it out if you can! For this outfit, my inspiration was 'strictly business (with a little play)'. I completed the look by adding an oversized butterfly brooch encrusted with blue crystals, and gypsy-style chandelier earrings with similar blue tones.

So far July has been a really eventful month, with both setbacks to overcome, and some positive developments as well. A recent highlight for me was meeting up with my former school classmates one evening, for a long-awaited class reunion. Our reunion took place on a Saturday night at a Chinese restaurant near to my old school! There were six of us in total, some of whom I hadn’t seen in many years! It felt natural and easy to talk to everyone and it felt like I’d been transported back in time, to my awkward teenage phase, which lasted at least seven years, so technically counts as an era rather than a phase, or possibly even an epoque! The next day, I visited a new friend at her home and we had a nice refined teatime, complete with tasty snacks and genteel gossip! It was so refreshing to be a social butterfly for the weekend, and connect with old and new friends. It’s something I don’t get to do very often, but with my newfound positivity, I’m hopeful that will change soon.

Now back to the fashion! Well I wore this ensemble in the spirit of being fabulous, even though it was purely for the purpose of taking outfit photos, rather than going somewhere in particular. The pieces I’m wearing are from past seasons, but I’ve included links at the end of this post for recreating a similar look! I hope you like it! Let me know in the comments below! x

  2. Saba... the floral color lace shirt is so pretty... such a great choice with this whole outfit xox

I think we all have felt that awkward teenager years, I had the worst so I totally understand xox... The great thing is that once you get older you realize how unimportant any of those years really are... (I've seen many of those people and it turns out that I became more confident and I look younger than most of them.. lol)

    1. Hi Launna! Thanks so much for your supportive comment, it's very kind of you. I'm glad you like the multi-coloured lace top and entire look!

Sorry to hear your teenage years were tough. Yes, that's a very valid point. Things which seem all-important at the time later pale into insignificance from the point-of-view of our adult selves! I'm glad to hear you've had a lot of success since then and retained your youthful looks! That's the sweetest revenge, haha!

  6. Sounds like you had a great weekend! I've never been to a school reunion, I've lost touch with a lot of people so don't even know if I've missed one, haha! I still have one friend from school I'm really close with but kinda drifted from most of them.

Your lace top is lovely - I like the colour and print on the lace :)

  15. Yeah, I agree! This top is gorgeous! I love how the butterfly on your jacket really complements it nicely too. It's a great detail. The ruched sleeves are very interesting as well, I'm not used to seeing them on blazers, but it adds more quirk to the look.

It sounds like you really have had an eventful time with meeting up with everyone! It seems like July is the month to meet up with friends since I've been doing it too! It's nice to be social sometimes!
