Fallen Leaves and Leopard Print

Hi everybody! It feels so good to be blogging again, after an unexpected break from it this month. I'm so happy to be back and sharing these pictures with you. Winter has been hard for me, as it always is, and since the temperatures have dropped, I find myself reluctant and sometimes fearful of going outside, except for work-related and official things, and for the sake of getting my exercise. My hands get numb and painful at times, on account of Raynaud's Syndrome, and the cold feels very acute. However, I ventured outside for a photo session yesterday, and although it was freezing, it was bright and sunny, and the light was lovely. I donned my leopard print furry coat, which you may remember from early this year, paired with dark denim, and my blue heart print jumper with a peter pan collar, which you can see more clearly below. If you're in the market for a leopard print furry coat, I've given a link to a similar one at the end of this post.

I was happy to capture these images and do something creative. I didn't want to cancel life just because I have a hard time dealing with winter! Sometimes when we have health conditions, we can get in the habit of thinking of ourselves as less capable than we are, and lately I've been trying to resist this way of thinking.

Do any of you have similar afflictions to overcome during winter? Have you found any helpful ways of staying positive and dealing with seasonal lows? Please let me know in the comments below!

Thank you for dropping by!

Lots of love Saba xx

  1. That squirrel is so sweet! I love seeing them in the park and giving them nuts. You have a great leopard jacket too, it looks warm. I suffer the same as you with Reynauds as my hands and feet go blue/purple. What I have found really works is those little pocket hand warmers, have you seen them? You bend/snap them and the gel inside heats up and hardens. They stay warm for a while, if you slip those inside your gloves you have on, they really keep your hands warm, especially if your gloves are insulated and thick. Might work better with mittens! Layer up underneath too with leggings under jeans and thermal tops under jumpers, a big scarf and a warm hat, you will be toasty! It's taken me a while to get to this understanding but it makes going out bearable, especially the hand warmers. I saw you can get these ones, which are different to what I was on about, I've not tried them, but the reviews say they're great! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hands-Instant-Hand-Warmers-Pairs/dp/B000YF3DUA

    1. You're an angel in human form Lorna. :) Thanks so much for your kind and thoughtful reply. I'm sorry to hear you have the same problem with Raynaud's. All the tips you gave are really helpful. I'm glad to hear that sticking to these steps is keeping you much warmer. Hats always look good on you, and I should give them a try as well. I previously resisted wearing anything which looks remotely like long johns, but now they're called 'thermal leggings' they sound a lot more promising! I saw hot hands at Boots at the start of autumn, and now I'm thinking they're a must!

Thanks so much for being lovely! xx

I feel you, I'm not too fond of the cold either, the only thing that makes me look forward to the season are the holidays. Once they're over, I'm wishing for spring, haha, it just gets too cold! Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, and I hope you have the best week ahead, beauty!

Squirell pic is super cute, as well!
So bad you've such issue with winter; i've never heard of this before (maybe even cause here in Rome weather is never very cold, really right now is still pretty warm) so I don't know what to say to help you, but since I was small I've heard that to fight cold hand and feet you have to keep warm head and neck, I do this when I go to skiing and I've never had very cold feet and hand!

I always carry a hand warmer in my pocket during winter. It really helps especially if you are doing a lot of walking outside! Take care girl, and stay warm! xx

  26. I absolutely love your outfit! The leopard jacket looks so comfy and I adore the contrast it creates with the heart pattern of your jumper. I'm glad you ventured out to take these shots! I really feel for you though and hope winter doesn't get too cold this year. I go through a bad seasonal low every summer so I know what it feels like to not want to go outside anymore. I think it's just important to try and stay positive and not let our health conditions get the better of us. Hope you have a lovely weekend!

  28. Your outfit looks so gorgeous and cosy, hun! :) And I know what you mean, winter can be so unforgiving... The last couple of days the temperatures have really dropped again and I'm not enjoying it at all! Granted, winter this year hasn't been quite as harsh as in the previous years, but I've a feeling it'll come back with vengeance soon! Wouldn't mind seeing a little bit of snow, though. :) As long as I can enjoy seeing it from a cosy, warm home. ;) I hope you're well, darling, and thanks for sharing! xoxo

I agree, there's a strong chance we'll have a cold snap in the New Year, as we've been let off lightly with milder temperatures lately! Fresh snow looks lovely, but I agree it's definitely best admired from indoors!

  29. Such a lovely post Saba, I enjoyed the chatty feel and wintery photography. I have a faux fur coat too, it’s one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe. I want to experiment with winged eye-liner, you’ve done a very neat job on yours. I find sunny days lift my mood, luckily over the last month, the weather has been fairly bright and mild, which has given me the chance to go out more with my camera. I love the picture you have taken of the tree with the bright colours coming through, it’s fab. Nice to meet you, and thanks for stopping by my blog yesterday. :-) xx
