Darker

Happy Halloween everybody! I took these pictures on the morning of Halloween, before I went to my job. I got ready very early so I would be able to drive to the location, and capture the images before work. It was quite a tight squeeze timing-wise, but luckily it all worked out in the end! I adore these floral lace cat ears, as they're very different to any other cat headbands I've seen. I bought them weeks before Halloween from Claire's, as I always look forward to Halloween and was thinking ahead to the kind of look I wanted to create for the blog. Wearing them with my black furry coat seemed very fitting, and made the outfit a little more cat-like. I added my Celtic trinity knot stud earrings, for a slightly mystical feel.

I also have a new burgundy cross body bag, which I'm wearing on the shoulder here. I work in a library with books and move around a lot each day, and I always find I need items from my main handbag while I'm working. So I got this smaller bag to transfer my essentials into. Now I can keep my hands free while handling books, and have a little survival kit on hand, containing my tissues, lip balm, a compact mirror, my work ID and keys, etc.

My other exciting news is that I just got my hair coloured for the first time in my life, at the Glasshouse Salon in London's East End. It was all done using one hundred per cent organic hair dye, which they're known for. I had a softening treatment beforehand, then the colour was applied, and the stylist finished with a blow-dry which gave my hair lots of body. I bought the chemical-free shampoo and conditioner from the salon, along with the all-natural treatment product which was used by the stylist. My hair was ultra-soft by the end of this visit, and given my naturally unruly hair texture, I was amazed that was even possible! My hair is one shade darker now, and I love it. I thought the darkness was particularly well-suited to a Halloween-themed look.

I wasn't able to attend any Halloween parties. However, I got into the Halloween spirit by watching The Simpsons' Halloween special, which I loved, and other Halloween-themed episodes of my favourite shows.

I hope you like my Halloween look! Please comment below and let me know. Did you don a costume for Halloween, or opt for a low-key look? Did you do anything special to mark the day? I would love to hear about it!

Thanks for dropping by and see you soon. Lots of love Saba xx

  1. Saba, I love your adorable cat ears, they really are sweet... the fury jacket is a great clothing item to choose for your cat look... you pull the look off beautifully xox

I didn't get dressed up for Halloween but I am thinking of having a Halloween party for Valentina next year for her and her friends... I may have to dress up myself too xox

I have been coloring my hair since I was in my early 20's, I'm a natural medium auburn but I started going grey early... now I go with a nice shade of brown with my purple strips. Your hair turned out great, I love getting my hair colored, it always feels so great after I do it... it's always super soft xox

    1. Hi Launna! Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I always appreciate your thoughtful and sincere words. I'm thrilled that you like this look, and the cat ears and furry coat!

I'm glad to hear you're thinking ahead and making positive plans for a Halloween party next year for Valentina. That's a great idea! I've always wanted to throw a party myself, but I'm quite the introvert when it comes to arranging (or even attending) any type of party!

I adore your purple hair, and it suits you perfectly. I'm really glad you think my colour turned out well. I agree, it's lovely to be pampered at the hair salon and not have aching arms for a change!

    1. Lorna! I'm so glad you love the cat ears and they have your seal of approval, as I know you have impeccable taste!

I noticed the cat ears are sold out on the Claire's website, but going into a branch might prove more promising!

Thanks so much for your comment. Luckily I can leave at about 11.20am in order to get to work on time, so I just about made it!

I hope you're having a fab weekend! xx

We don't really have halloween here in Australia so we had a quiet one too. Your hair looks great. I love post-hairdresser hair as it always feels so nice! It's so relaxing having someone else wash it for a change too, haha!

Hope you are having a lovely weekend! We are getting our family Santa photo done tomorrow, gotta get a move on with my Christmas cards, haha! :)

  7. Ahhh so exciting you got your hair coloured for the first time! I love going to the hairdresser, though it's crazy expensive so I don't go often but I have one coming up in about two weeks so I cant wait!!

  10. Hi Saba,

I really enjoyed reading this post!

What dedication you have, setting up and executing your shoot prior to starting your working day! I think the look turned out really well.
I particularly like your burgundy bag and cat ears, which seem very fitting for the festive occasion.
I also really like your hair colour, it's great that you used a natural dye. You look so beautiful!
Thanks ever so much for sharing! Looking forward to seeing the next post!

  13. I think your hair looks beautiful, hun! I only tried colouring my hair once, and whilst I liked the colour it damaged my hair loads, so decided not to do it again. I love your outfit, the cat ears are so cute! :) Like yourself, I didn't attend any Halloween parties this year. I always prefer it nice and cosy at home, and yes the Simpsons Halloween specials are always a lot of fun! I hope you're doing well, lovely, and thank you so much for sharing. <3 xoxo

    1. Thank you so much for your visit and positive comment Kay! I'm so glad you like my outfit and hair. It's a shame that colouring your hair didn't suit you in the past. Perhaps an all-natural hair colour would be more promising for you, if you decide you'd like to colour your hair in the future?

I'm hooked on The Simpsons and I adore their Halloween specials! It's great that you enjoy them too.

I've been very well, thank you, and I hope all is well with you too. xx

  14. Hey Saba, hope you’re having a nice week, seems like you had a fab Halloween. Getting your hair done sounds really exciting, it looks lovely in the picture too. I have very long, dark blonde hair, and haven’t had it dyed for a while now. I’m hoping to experiment with some new styles over Christmas. I love your laid back look for Halloween, it’s cute with the cat ears and furry coat. My Halloween was pretty low-key, I liked visiting all the different themed blog posts though and I did a little bit of baking. Hope you are well, you’ve been a bit quiet on the blogosphere so I thought I would pop by with a ‘hi’. Speak soon! Helen Xx :-)

    1. Hi Helen! Thanks so much for your sweet comment. I'm so glad you liked this Halloween look, and the cat ears. It's lovely of you to drop by. Things have been quite hectic of late, and I haven't yet succeeded in mastering my timetable! But I'm hopeful I'll get the hang of it soon, and carve out more time for personal and creative things! I always miss blogging a lot when I don't get the chance to post.

Your low-key Halloween sounds wonderful! I'm sure whatever you baked was fantastic, as I've seen the lovely creations shown on your blog. Like you, I always enjoy seeing Halloween-themed posts on blogs, especially outfit posts, and to see the creativity of the other bloggers.

I'm excited to know about the different hairstyles you tried. A change of hairstyle can make such a dramatic difference, even if you don't want to cut or colour your hair. xx
